‘The New World Order and the Implications for Europe and Portugal’
On 6th December 2007 Clem Sunter came to talk to a joint event of the Portuguese Chamber and the Anglo Portuguese Society at Canning House on “New World Order and the Implications for Europe and Portugal”. HE Mr Antonio Santana Carlos introduced Clem Sunter who is known both for his books, talks and analysis of strategies
Clem started by looking at Populations sizes and relative growths in different economic blocks, coming to the conclusion that China would be a dominant world economy overtaking many other economies in overall size.
Starting with an analysis of the scenarios for China, he then went on to analyse how China was interacting with other parts of the world such as Africa and what the drivers behind its policies were. Understanding some of China’s needs and views gave and indication of how interactions were taking place and what such a large new emerging economy would mean to other established economies all over the world. Clem is well known all over the world for his expertise in looking at strategies and scenarios with books in the bestseller list and wide experience across the world.
Gavin Trechman, Chairman of the APS thanked Clem Sunter for coming and speaking on such a wide range. As this was the Christmas season the talk was followed by a reception with Portuguese Wine and Seasonal Foods which everyone enjoyed and the members of the two organisations had a chance to meet and talk.
