23rd October 2017 - Moving to Portugal Seminars, Pestana Chelsea Bridge Hotel & Spa, London SW11 8AE
On Monday 23rd October 2017 in central London, the Portuguese Chamber of Commerce in the UK is organising the 3rd edition of our popular "Moving to Portugal" seminars. These will take place at the Pestana Chelsea Bridge Hotel & Spa, 354 Queenstown Road, London SW11 8AE. The nearest Tube station is Sloane Square which is approx. 10 minutes’ walk from the hotel. The number 137 and 452 buses stop outside the hotel.
The Moving to Portugal seminars are designed to answer all the questions you may have about how to organise your move to Portugal, whether you intend to run your business from there, retire there or simply spend several months a year there to escape the English climate.
The doors will open at 11am and close at 9pm. The first seminar begins at 11.30am and will last approx. two hours, with a coffee break in the middle for half an hour. The seminar will then be repeated at 3pm and 6.30pm. The seminars are free to attend but due to their popularity it is necessary to reserve your place in advance.
Within each seminar there will be 8 short (15 minute) presentations from specialists on the following subjects:
· the legal aspects of buying a property in Portugal,
· the range of properties for sale in the Algarve and the areas around Lisbon and Porto,
· how to plan your tax and financial affairs in advance of the move,
· how to structure mortgage finance,
· how Portugal’s Non Habitual Residence (NHR) programme works,
· all aspects of healthcare and later living in Portugal.
Staff from all the 8-10 the companies presenting at the seminars will be present throughout the day on their stands to answer your questions and talk in private with you. Come along and meet us all, try some Portuguese wine, and plan your move towards a sunnier lifestyle!
For many years, UK nationals wanting to retire to a more relaxing lifestyle in sunnier climes have chosen to move to Portugal.
From the golf courses, beaches and restaurants in the Algarve to the vineyards and culture of Porto, Lisbon and the north, there is a home and way of life to suit everyone
In addition, UK nationals moving to Portugal can now benefit from Portugal’s very favourable 'non-habitual residence' tax rules during their first ten years in Portugal.
'Wet or fine, the air of Portugal has a natural happiness in it and the people of the country should be as happy and prosperous as any people in the world.' - HG Wells
Portugal is the oldest nation state in Europe and the Portuguese Empire was the first global empire in history. The Treaty of Tordesillas in 1494 effectively gave Portugal half of the 'new world' known at that time. Its culture and heritage is evident today - with medieval castles and villages with cobblestone streets that enchant all those with even a passing interest in history. With year round sunshine, golden beaches, breathtaking views, almost 1000 kilometres of beautiful mainland coastline, and golf courses and restaurants to cater for every taste, Portugal offers a European lifestyle second to none.
About the Seminars
Our seminars focus on some of the practical aspects UK nationals should consider ahead of a move such as:
Where should I move to?
What do I need to be aware of when buying property?
How does the Portuguese health system work?
How do the 'non habitual residence' rules work and would I qualify?
How will I be taxed?
What are the implications of Brexit?
How can I minimise the impact of a falling pound?
There is no charge for the seminars and refreshments will be provided on arrival and afterwards. The series of talks within each seminar address the areas listed above, for a total of around two hours with a coffee break in the middle, after the first hour. Afterwards you will then have the opportunity to explore the issues from your perspective, on an informal basis, with any of the speakers over drinks and nibbles.
