CPE Dinner: Guest Speaker - Portugal's Minister of State for Finance, Maria Luís Albuquerque

Portugal will shortly exit from the Programme for Economic and Financial Assistance, initiated in May 2011, following the success of the most recent regular review of the Programme, carried out in February this year.

The guest speaker will be Maria Luís Albuquerque, the current Minister of State for Finance who will speak about: "Portugal post-troika: hope in the future”.

The event will take place on the 9th April, from 7pm at the Sofitel Hotel in London.

The cost of the dinner will be 95£ for members, 130£ for non-members.

Payment should be made before the day of the event. There shall be no admission without payment for entry to the dinner.

Refunds will only be made for cancellations notified at least forty-eight hours prior to the event.

As there are a limited number of places, we recommend early booking.

This year, the Portuguese Chamber of Commerce in the UK is hosting its 10th Portugal Property Conference, at the prestigious five-star Jumeirah Carlton Tower Hotel in central London.

Sponsored by leading Portuguese banks Santander Totta and Banco Espirito Santo, the conference, now in its tenth year, has become THE annual event for international developers, agents, financiers and brokers who work in the Portuguese residential property sector, to meet and discuss the latest investment opportunities in Portugal.

Against the backdrop of Portugal’s June 2014 exit from the financial adjustment programme, the conference will review the latest real estate trends, and examine the growing tide of investment now entering Portugal on the back of the government’s Golden Visa and non habitual tax residents’ programmes. It will also look back at the progress the market has made since the first conference was held in 2005.

VIP networking lunch 12-30pm  to 2pm

To celebrate Portugal’s National Day on 10th June there will be a 3-day visit to the UK by the Portuguese All Party Parliamentary Group (from Lisbon)   to visit their UK counterparts at Westminster. This reception will form part of their official programme and is being coordinated with the Ambassador.

Following Portugal’s successful “clean exit” from its three-year bailout, the Guest Speaker at the CPE dinner is the CEO of Lloyds Bank, Mr António Horta-Osório, who will speak on “The challenges of the recovery and lessons from the crisis.”

The cost of the dinner will be £95 for members of the CPE and Portuguese Chamber, and £130 for non-members.

Luso 2014 in Bath - Organised by PARSUK and supported by the Portuguese Chamber

Around 100 participants are expected for LUSO 2014, in their majority postgraduate students and researchers from prestigious UK Universities and Research Centres. This year’s meeting is named “Engenho e a Arte” (translated as Skill and Art) and it will be focused on three topics – Portuguese Higher Education and Research in a global world; The international promotion of Portuguese Culture and Art and Entrepreneurship – how can Portuguese companies compete?

Confirmed speakers for this year’s edition include the Minister for Education and Science, Professor Nuno Crato, the Portuguese Ambassador to the UK, João de Vallera, the architect and winner of the 2011 Pritzker award, Souto Moura and the Rector of the University of Lisbon, Professor António Cruz Serra, the film director Rúben Alves, among many others.
